Wintec Learning Building

Hamilton, Waikato

MOAA’s shortlisted proposal for Wintec Campus, was an agile response to a number of site challenges that ranged in scale from emerging educational pedagogies to wider campus organisation.

The distinct serpentine form, composed of terracing floor levels and gently sloping ramps, stitch the campus from north-to-south uncovering a newfound relationship between existing open spaces. Generous pedestrian thoroughfares, sheltered plinths, bay windows, long benches, and loose furniture – all flexible opportunities for varied study, collaboration, learning and social activities – are made possible by the building’s envelope. The edges offer fluid engagement with daylight, street presence and new learning practices.

Te Whare Ako ki Te Pūkenga

Kirikiriroa, Waikato
