Rimu Street House

Riccarton, Christchurch

At the edge of the remnant Riccarton Kahikatea forest, Rimu Street House is an urban infill, two-family dwelling. Being a modestly sized parcel, with a generously proportioned house to its north, the footprint straddles its nothern boundary to absorb sun through a stout cloak of concrete and punched glazing. The house, in being mindful of its limited width, staggers to grant indoor and outdoor spaces of solitude and sociality. The upper-stack, a bedroom and deck, are perched to catch views, or sounds of the bordering native green-space Pūtaringamotu – ‘place of the echo’.

Ki te kaupae o runga, kua waihanga he rūma moe me tētahi papa takahi kia kapo i ngā tirohanga me ngā oro o Pūtaringamotu.
