Cottage in Tamahere

Hamilton, Waikato

Hugging the bank of the Mangaone Gully of Tamahere, this cedar-dressed cottage acts as an autonomous extension to its main house counterpart, which MOAA also designed. While modest in scope, its interior functions are neatly woven by warm timber built-ins to maximise living area and fold in natural light. Its footprint was an exercise in elementary construction techniques and a taking stock of domestic necessities.
