Murupara Area School

This project involves the formation of the new Murupara Area School. The new school is based on the grounds of Murupara Primary School and brings together the primary school and Rangitahi College following the closure of the later at the end of 2012. The role for the new school is 380, with an entitlement of 3920m². The approved masterplan involves 1000 m2 of refurbished space and 2900m² of new space. The design centres around the concept of all teaching and learning under one roof.
This Design provides four distinct learning communities along a feature corridor the corridor has been given a generous width to allow for breakout learning and a strong sense of interconnection. The Site rises in elevation by 2m along the building which has allowed the learning communities to be located along differing levels within the main building creating a sense of difference & progression.
