In 2012, MOAA Architects in association with DCA won Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology’s design competition for a new Health Sciences Building. During the subsequent consultation process the aspirations and requirements for best practice specialist nursing education were defined.
The result is an uplifting interior environment wrapped in an exterior of textured concrete, glass and vivid green screens – a combination that conveys an appropriately strong and healthy identity. The building is comprised of a lecture theatre, student social space and staff offices, and open, flexible and technology-rich learning spaces – including two 20-bed wards, which can be easily changed as required from simulation to simulation.
